Hey VJ

I used 2 love a good sci fi , but haven't checked one out 4 years , so will Dune 2 :)

Our Sunsets in Melbourne look other worldly atm .

Posted a photo on Insta and one friend said , "Sinister Look" .

Looks can B deceiving , I replied .

Our Fire Departments , do Controlled burning at this time of the year .

We have NO wind today and it's like a London Foggy/Smokey Day again .

The Sun is just breaking through and we have another , glorious Indian Summer Day ( and Sunset ) coming up .

We ( and our natives animals ) love it , as Fire makes Our Autumn Sunsets and Might City , even MORE colourful , not sinister at all .

Our Autumn Storms , must have been welcomed Eons ago , by the animals .

Great to have some Lighting start a few bush fires , now and NOT in the Extreme of Summer .

Sunny down here on the coast Pops, make sure you watch Dune 1 (the most recent one) first for context!

Not specifically you VJ ….

But

Geez I wish people would stop referring to their particular stretch of coast as The Coast. Whilst I was in Indo I met dozens of Aussies who would all tell me about something that had happened on The Coast. I’d then have to either try and divine which stretch of coast they were from or just abruptly say …”Where the fuck are you from?”

Everyone thinks their coast is The Coast. Sunshine , Gold, Tweed, Wollongong, Central , South , Torquay…..

Actually…it’s only an East coast thing.

slackey

VJ should NOT have been mentioned in the above Post .

Geez , He was chatting 2 me and said he as on "the coast " , NOT , The Coast .

I have NFI which Coast , VJ is actually on , it doesn't matter much as the traffic 2 get Down , is Off The Planet and we like to keep that Stuff Secret , Down here !

VJ is especially secretive and I have got better at it .

In the Old days I would have said , I was on The East Coast at Central , looking at the left and waiting 4 the tide 2 come in a bit more .

Just saying , it's a Melbourne Thing .

As a new non piss guy , I am now , a non Coaster Guy , 2 .

So Slackey , go 2 the naughty corner and eat some chocolate , wait 29 minutes and come out firing , again , imho .

So VJ , I should go to the Original ( Sand ) Dune first , which Coast ?

Guessing the One Coast .

Cheers .

Hi Pops, ideally the books first, Herbert was so far ahead of his time it wasn't funny (1961). But the first of the most recent movies - 2021 first. That way you get the background and all the politics between the great families which explains what you will find in the second film. (There was an attempt made to film it in the 1980s - don't bother with that one!)

The coast, it's deliberately ambiguous the same way 'Johnnos' is a spot! WA is more clear cut, down south, south coast, midwest, northwest - and metro ("Metros fuck off", seen in Mandurah carved into a lookout). No offence taken. There's a hinterland/coast aspect to things in many areas, for example Nabawa farmers will holiday at Kalbarri and Eneabba farmers maybe Green Head, down on 'the coast' :)

It was a fair game despite the dropped balls
- and, from mexico, it could've very well been eclipsed by a taco ;)

could've been partial
- may have been total

But ended up scrotal ;)

It's the ultimate year 9 prank, in front of a national audience, takes huge nads, and apparently he chimed in on social media to the TV station asking to be credited.

Bonus praise to station programmer team, you weren't watching the whole clips, were you?

Since we now have gaming references in the WSL leadership article, note the culture wars have erupted in the world of gaming in recent times. It appears firms comprised of activists have been going through the game scripts and telling developers to alter their plotlines. One disappointed fan appears to have put 2 and 2 together, chronicled who these activists are and how they operate, and started a blacklist of the games they have been involved in. The result is an open revolt by the fans:

Cool eh @seeds. Not sure but assuming they're raw. I heard a similar thing is happening in India..although maybe a little controversial, but they pop a zapper around a tigers neck and plant some human shaped dummies where tigers that have been known to attack humans frequent. Once the tiger approaches the dummy it gets a big whack of electricity and apparently it's really effective in deterring tigers to come near humans. Which naturally leads a surfer to think of one thing. Hmmm.

Controversial? Maybe, but if effective it should help both species lives. Especially the tiger’s

Wide-ranging interview with leading Lebanese Arab intellectual. Something for everyone. Palestine - Israel, Israeli swing to the right, Nihilism of Hamas approach, irrelevance of Palestine as a political issue in Arab / Muslim countries, Lebanese political mess, US politics. And more.

One of my key takeaways from this and other non-Western takes is that the view of Palestinian cause across the Arab and Muslim is far more nuanced and contextual than it is represented in the West. And Hamas is considered pretty poorly across the board.

*edit: the key takeaway is the Hossani’s explanation of this nuance / context

its just confirming what we already know - the arab states (or at least the leadership) don't want a bar to do with helping the Palestinians in creating a viable independent state. It's all just political theatre to appease the fundamentalists in their individual countries.

Yeah absolutely bonza, but I like the detail behind it.
It’s just not important enough for said Arab countries to put at the forefront of their policies. And many are deeply sceptical of Palestinian cause and factions, more so than many of the pro-Pal movements in the West.

I think it’s more common than the political leadership.

yes. in other words - the useful idiots re "pro-Pal movements".
sidenote/ed - even the arab intellectuals are using the word "woke". It's part of the lexicon like it or not. funny.
