Who'd be a politician, eh?
Forever criticised for what they wear and how they talk. Politicians have everything they do and say scrutinised to the nth degree. What's even worse is when things they did in the past return in unexpected ways.
Take Tony Abbott for example: earlier this year he visited a surfboard factory on the Gold Coast and met with a few boardmakers. There he pledged to start a pilot program that would give formal qualifications to young workers to revive a flagging domestic surfboard industry. To counter the threat of cheap imports the shapers also said they would like to see compulsory labelling on imported, mass-produced Asian surfboards.
And then some smartarse, sideline commentator digs out a photo of Abbott with an imported, mass-produced Asian surfboard under his arm...
