The Gold Coast gets it's best waves in summer and autumn, or so conventional wisdom says. When the trade wind belt starts up and the odd cyclone drifts down from lower latitudes is when you can expect to be sampling the best product.

That's not to say the waves stop altogether though. Perhaps they're more sporadic but the deliveries still arrive. Check these shots by Ryan Williams if you need further proof.
