Sometimes you've gotta back yourself.

While preparing the Victorian surf forecasts the past week there was varying speculation on wave size for the coming weekend.

The Long Wave Trough had parked itself in perfect position, sending a large long-period sou-west groundswell towards the state, and the weather forecast was superb with light offshore winds and sunny skies.

I was confident enough to book a plane ticket and organise a hire car to go down and check it out for myself.
