The old adage about kids growing up wanting to be firemen has been turned on its head. At least on the NSW Central Coast.

These shots are taken by Jughead Allport, Central Coast firemen and the first fella in line when his local reefs are firing. Who is his hero? Who does he look up to?

Jughead is quick with his answer: 13-year old Riley Laing. Although he's only been surfing a few years ol' Riley already has plenty of experience towing his local bommies and charging the local reefs. He swoops and fades and keeps himself near the pit with a fearlessness that belies his age. Keep an eye out for this lad...
