My god what an epic mix of erm, stuff. Can't even begin to imagine the process to create those tunes.

One of the more memorable gigs in the 90’s for me was Mr Bungle at Narabeen Sands. They went off in their unique way. I hired a full body costume for the gig, a giant teddy bear. Stage diving and crowd surfing was in full flight at the time and every time I went up the crowd cheered, Mike was making the odd comment and seemed to enjoy my presence and it’s still to this day the only time I’ve had girls lining up to cuddle me. I miss the 90’s

"The whole trip was something we never thought would be possible to achieve. Luckily enough, we spoke to the right person, and we didn’t have to go through the Brazilian government to get this done; it was straight from a person that represents the tribe outside, you know, so it was like amazing. It was just [about the] music; [that was] the main thing, it was music.
"Most of the white people that went there were studying them and doing research of what they were about, so they had no relation with them, ...so with us, they were really happy to have us there, because we were not there to treat them as freaks... it was like just music. The exchange, you know. [We had] no compromise with them, which, to us, was really important. Not kind of like Sting, going into the tribe and after that trying to do something for the tribe, to save the tribe — nothing like that. We go in and had no compromise with that shit; all we wanted to do was play music with them and that was it."
Regarding how SEPULTURA chose the Xavante tribe to collaborate with, Igor said: "I think the main thing was that we didn’t have to go through the government to speak to them. The fact that we picked the Xavante tribe was because it was our word and their word and that was it — no bullshit involved."

Anyone going to the Sydney/WoyWoy/Vic gigs, just a heads up, Mad Macka was delightfully woeful, haha. 3 of the crew I was with left to go play pool. Their loss but, being in a room of 30-40 kindred crusties, up close to a solo Psycho.. he could have just stood there and farted and I would have enjoyed it (I think he did at one point). Pat Todd was glorious, what a voice and songwriter. Authentic as they come. Stories are getting around of his Geelong River Rocks gig: the whole crowd spellbound, many tattooed punks getting teary.. @basesix can vouch for the River Rocks gig. It was incredible and very emotional. Had hoped to make it over to Ballarat on the Sunday for his arvo gig but things didn't pan out so couldn't make it.
Pat Todd is without a doubt one of the most underrated songwriters of our time. Everything the Lazy Cowgirls did was amazing and he continues churn out great records to this day.
He has promised to return this year with the Rank Outsiders...definitely not one to be missed.

yes Kook-Man, I agree with your sentiment, and we can expect a Patt Todd and the Rank Outsiders gig later this year. And a brief chat with him after the Maroochydore gig had him suggesting there'll be plenty of regional gigs in that tour, so good chances to see them outside of the big city centres. Looking forward to it.
Cosmics gig last night. Pretty damn good. Far out, ZEKE were intense, a ferocious onslaught from start to finish, as was to be expected. If you dig a bit of Motorhead, Supersuckers, Dwarves, New Bomb Turks...., then I hope you'll get to see ZEKE. The sound was literally penetrating my body.
and very well done Ross, after a snake bite very recently, he's kicked on with the tour, seemingly unaffected. The Cosmics set was damn good, as also to be expected. A great night.

Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
