The Roxy Pro kicked off in small but great surf at Snapper
Rocks on Tuesday. 2004 World Champion Sofia Mulanovich couldn't find rhythm in
the clean 2-3ft waves, losing to Melanie Bartels and Silvana Lima in Round 1,
before being knocked out of the second round by Jacqueline Silva and Rosanne Hodge.
Chelsea
Hedges and Steph Gilmore were Day 1 standouts, but 14 year old Carissa Moore delivered
the star performance of the day, defeating Layne Beachley and Jacqueline Silva
in the first round. Carissa earned her way into the Roxy Pro by winning the Trials
on Monday, so all eyes will be on her Round 3 rematch against Layne. Heat
