The Boardriders Classic is the brainchild of former Sydney
now Central Coast residents Adrian Reed & Monique Ferster, and was held at
Wamberal Beach on the Central Coast to help raise funds for the Central Coast
Cancer Council. Each club from
Umina in the the south to Catherine Hill Bay in the North picked their best 4
Open Mens, best 4 U/18 Juniors and best Women. Some clubs had the luxury to be
able to select the likes of WCT surfer
Adrian 'Ace' Buchan, Shane Powell and WQS hotshots Michael Spencer, Glenn 'Micro'
Hall, Matt Seymour and Brent Powers.
All surfers surfed individually in a normal format, but the hook was they all
collected points for the much sought after Teams Title. The Event was huge, with
8 clubs and over 80 surfers competing for the Championship and winners trophy. The
competition was held in testing but sometimes fun 2-4ft surf. The Open Mens final
was a true battle of amazing talent and fierce but friendly rivalry, with all
4 surfers absolutely going off and putting on a show worthy of any state level
competition. Results
